VIRTUAL STEAM CAMPS
WHAT IS IT?
Our virtual STEAM camps are opportunities for any child, anywhere in Africa, to access resources that will help them discover a love for the STEAM subjects. Each 10-day session focuses on two different STEAM subjects, actively introducing children to new topics during 1 hour live lessons. During the camp, each child will be required to work on a project relating to the subject of the week with a group of two to five people. Through our virtual STEAM camps, children aged 8-15 will learn coding, robotics, astronomy, and so much more through live instructional sessions and group projects. The weekend camps are held every Saturday and Sunday for four weeks. They have the same amount of content as a 10-day holiday camp. Click here to get a sample curriculum schedule.

WHY STEAM CAMP?
With a world that is constantly developing and becoming more technologically and scientifically advanced, it is important, now more than ever, to introduce children to STEAM education at an early age. The skills the children would gain from an early STEAM education can be translated into almost any career, even careers that are not in one of the STEAM fields
Having a STEAM framework teaches children how to think critically, problem-solve, and use creativity. Additionally, children taught under a STEAM framework are not only taught the subject matter but they are also taught how to learn, how to ask questions, how to experiment, and how to create. STEAM-focused camps have continuously proven to be a great way to introduce children to the STEAM fields and help them discover a love for one, or more, of these subjects.
OUR REWARD SYSTEM
dschool’s virtual STEAM camp uses a point system to keep track of a student’s performance. Points are normally awarded based on behavior within the classroom and effort shown in the group project. At the end of each day, a student that adheres to our rules and shows effort in their work would gain 1 points, acquiring 10 points by the end of the camp if they do the same every day. Once a child acquires 200 points, 300 points, 400 points, etc, they will be able to redeem their points for a cool prize. From stationery to gift vouchers, and laptops to robotic kits, each week that your child participates in our virtual camp, they have a chance to get closer to receiving a prize. The more the points, the better the prize!
